I recently read that only 8% of petitions submitted by Sephardim and their descendants for Portuguese citizenship (as reparation for the 1496 decree of expulsion) were approved. Does anyone know why it is so low? (Facts please; no arbitrary, conspiracy-related allegations of discrimination). Also, does anyone know the percentage of success for petitions submitted in Spain?
Going to submit by DNA swabs to FAMILY TREE DNA later today or tomorrow. I do not expect any major surprises but an eager to see what they say . . .
